White Fox

The White Fox project focuses on promoting high technology, emphasizing technological know-how in the Kainuu region. Artificial intelligence and digitization create versatile benefits that should be pursued in Kainuu region. Globally, companies have seen benefits associated with the adoption of artificial intelligence, such as efficiency gains in production or other processes that reduce the use of manual labor, save costs, and often increase safety and ecology.
 
The main goal of the White Fox project emphasizes building AI expertise, capabilities, and opportunities through cooperation within Kainuu’s own higher education and corporate environment and through integration with an ecosystem that builds bridges outside of the region. So far, the number of SMEs and public actors in the Kainuu region that utilize data and artificial intelligence is relatively small. In terms of data analytics and artificial intelligence, better and more comprehensive support is needed for the promotion of digitization and the introduction of new digital technologies and sustainable production. The White Fox project is built on years of experience in the areas of data expertise and technology business applications.
 
The Kainuu program states the estimated population decrease in the future, which may further the skills shortages in the region. The program also notes the strong situation of the digital transition with infrastructure and the HPC ecosystem, and its further development as one of the program’s priorities. Increasing artificial intelligence in the next few years can, in some sectors, reduce the absolute need for human labor in the region by reducing manual tasks, allowing the workforce to focus on tasks that generate the most added value. In terms of increasing artificial intelligence and data analytics, public actors can partly set an example for companies.
