Sports and Wellbeing Data

Sports and Wellbeing Data research group supports the utilization of sports and wellbeing data in the development of various services, lifestyle guidance and sports management decision-making (including sports venues). The strong data analytics expertise of the Kainuu region enables sports and wellbeing data’s utilization, also in the development of sports tourism services. This also strengthens the attractiveness of sports tourism in the region.

Our strong multidisciplinary knowledge-based management training enables the development of expertise together with companies and organizations, without forgetting the input of students.

Research and Study Infrastructure

CEMIS (Centre for Measurement and Information Systems) is a research and training center specialized in measurement technology and data expertise. One of its units is located in Vuokatti, where are the measurement and testing environments for exercise, wellbeing and sports.

The game development laboratory of the Clever Simulation Entertainment research group, which specializes in the development of serious games, is located at the KAMK campus. The focus of the activities is the development of virtual and augmented reality solutions through applied research.

Cases and References

Data-based mobility – utilization of exercise data in Kainuu project strengthened the competence in data-based sport in Kainuu for example by mapping the needs of companies and municipalities related to sport data nationally.

The Innovation ecoSystem for Healthy Active People in Europe – I3-INSHAPE project aims to develop European innovation clusters on the themes of sport and wellbeing and to promote local sport and wellbeing innovations.

Who would move me? -project pilots the personalized and motivating “Who would move me?” physical activity activation concept with the municipalities of Kainuu.
