AIKA DIH – Digital Innovation Hub is an ecosystem that offers companies support for the digital business transition and the development of new innovative solutions. Through the partners operating in the AIKA ecosystem, companies can benefit from the latest digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), supercomputing and data analytics in business and product development.
CEMIS is a contract-based research and training centre formed by the University of Oulu, the University of Jyväskylä, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and CSC – IT Center for Science specialising in measurement technology and data expertise.
Kajaani is the birthplace of Finnish game development education, as KAMK launched its first degree program in 2006. Since then, Kajaani has been the pioneer in the scene and has created success stories for almost 20 years.
Kajaani has the highest density of game companies per capita, which makes the name GameCity Kajaani.
The Kainuu Sports Hub is a pioneering regional innovation centre focused on advancing the intersection of sports, technology, serious games and education. Partners in the HUB are the CEMIS partners University of Jyväskylä, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, Oulu University, CSC — IT Center for Science and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
Kajaani has emerged as an internationally significant location for data centers and a key player in the field of high-performance computing (HPC). The pace of growth accelerated with the arrival of the pan-European LUMI supercomputer, and in 2024, several international data center and HPC investments were made in Kajaani.
Woodpolis together with its partners, supports the woodworking industry by developing new innovations in the area of wood construction. Woodpolis partner network includes private companies, educational institutes and universities.
KAMK is developing innovation and ecosystem activities in the Kainuu region through several projects. For example, the formation of an ecosystem is underway in the health and wellness sector.
