Transfer Students

There are two different ways to apply through the transfer application process:

1. through the official transfer application via Studyinfo
2. internally within KAMK

More detailed instructions are provided below — please read them carefully to determine which application process applies to you.

Use the transfer application if you want to:

• Change your right to study for a bachelor’s or master’s degree from another Finnish University of Applied Sciences (UAS) to KAMK.
• Change your degree programme within KAMK, resulting in a different degree or degree title.

An official transfer application is required when the degree title changes.

Examples:

Bachelor of Engineering  → Bachelor of Business Administration
Bachelor of Business Administration  → Bachelor of Hospitality Management

Transfer applications are submitted nationally via Studyinfo.fi in the spring or autumn.

Starting from 1 Jan 2025, applicants from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee in order to apply to higher education studies. Read more about the application fee.

The tuition fee is charged from non-EU/EEA students who have started their studies in degree programmes offered in English on 1 August 2017 or after that. Read more about the tuition fees and scholarships at KAMK.

If you wish to change your degree within KAMK so that the degree title remains the same, for example from a business degree  to another business degree (e.g. Esports to International Business), it is not a transfer application but an internal transfer. In this case, you do not need to apply nationally through the Studyinfo.fi service. Instead, you can discuss the change directly with your study counselor, who will guide you through the internal process together with Education manager and  Study Services.

A degree program change happens when you move to another degree program at KAMK, but your degree title remains the same.

Example of a degree program change:

The mode of study changes (from full-time to part-time, or from Finnish to English.)

You move from one degree program to another, while keeping the same degree title:

Bachelor of Business Administration, Esports Business → Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business

The studies must be relevant to the degree you are applying for.

Changing the studies in English or Finnish requires proof of language proficiency.

How to apply within KAMK so that the degree title remains the same: discuss the change directly with your study counselor, who will guide you through the internal process together with Education manager and  Study Services.

• You can apply for a transfer, if you have a study right in a degree programme in a Finnish higher education institution
• You have progressed according to the curriculum and have complete a minimum of 22 ECTS per semester or 45 ECTS per academic year (excluding accredited studies) of courses relevant to the degree. 
• The studies must be relevant to the degree you are applying for.   
• You have been a present student at least one academic year.
• You have a realistic possibility to graduate during the standard study time. Study right does not start from the beginning or be extended after transfer.
• There are study places available in the applied degree. If the number of applicants exceeds the available study places, the total number of completed, relevant credits, academic performance, and the justification provided in the application will be taken into consideration. If you are applying for a degree programme on campus in Kajaani, please mention your plans for studying onsite. 

• Officially signed and stamped certificate of enrollment containing attendance record
• Officially signed and stamped transcript of records and a list of ongoing courses (personal study plan)
• If necessary, a document verifying exemption from tuition fee payment

Save the documents online to your application.

The selection is possible only when

• You meet the transfer admissions criteria
• There are study places in the study group you’re applying to
• Your previous studies can be included to the degree at KAMK
• Your remaining study right is enough to complete the degree at KAMK

The applications are submitted on Study Info during the application period (taking place twice a year).

Transfer student cannot register as absent in the first academic year after the transfer.

Check carefully which programs are conducted on campus as in-person studies and which are remote studies. 

If you are admitted as a transfer student and you accept the study place at KAMK, you give up automatically your earlier study place.

30 June (studies starting in autumn)
15 December  (studies starting in autumn)

Accepting the study place latest by:
31 July 3 pm Finnish local time (studies starting in autumn)
31 December 3 pm Finnish local time (studies starting in spring)
