Art Meets Game Tech in Kajaani – Public Event on Sunday, June 15, 2025

Culture and game technology, two of Kajaani’s key strengths, are coming together in an unprecedented way at the Art x Game Technology event on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 11–15 at the Seminaarin Taidekampus. The open-to-all event offers a fresh perspective on how art and game tech can intersect, enrich each other, and create entirely new forms of experience and participation.
The event also sparks a wider conversation: how can collaboration between the cultural and game industries elevate the arts and even lead to internationally significant initiatives?
– Kajaani has long been known as a national hub for culture, especially performing arts. At the same time, we have a strong game technology cluster here. With this event, we’re bringing artists and creators together to see what exciting new things might emerge, says Karoliina Kuvaja, Community Coordinator at Taidekampus.
Although performing arts and gaming elements have previously been combined in individual projects in Kajaani, this collaboration opens the door for broader, more integrated experiences.
– Game technology offers massive potential to bring depth, interactivity, and new storytelling methods to art and culture. Interactive elements from games can offer audiences entirely new ways to engage and participate. We’ve just begun working with the Art Campus, and we’re actively looking for new opportunities to collaborate across disciplines, explains Joonas Pylvinen, Project Manager at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences.
Game Tech, Art & Music Collide
The Art x Game Technology event will feature live demonstrations of motion capture suits and show how programming can become a form of digital art. Kicking off the summer series, the Garden Brunches at Taidekampus will also begin on Sunday inviting visitors to bring their own snacks, enjoy free live music, and soak up the creative atmosphere. The first brunch of the season will feature DJ sets from Korpikollektiivi. (Weather permitting )
This weekend of events marks the start of a new collaboration between Taidekampus, GameCity Kajaani, and Korpikollektiivi bringing together artists, students, and professionals to build new bridges between culture and technology. All events are free of charge.
