Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism

Choose the Tourism degree at KAMK if you wish to obtain the knowledge and skills to manage and develop tourism businesses sustainably. During the studies, you will gain a comprehensive overview of the different aspects of the tourism industry, such as accommodation, catering and program services and event management. You will study the current trends and phenomena in the tourism industry and build a strong competence base for multidisciplinary collaboration in the tourism operational environments.

You will start off focusing on gaining a solid understanding of the tourism industry and its basic concepts, after which you will apply the acquired theory into practice. You will learn the essential skills of customer service and teamwork and learn how to deliver exceptional experiences to travelers. Furthermore, you will become a tourism service provider, developer, and specialist, and equip yourself with the tools needed to succeed in the fast-paced world of tourism. Towards the end of your studies, you will develop competencies in designing and implementing tourism products incorporating sustainability and responsible practices and making a positive impact on destinations and communities. During your studies, you specialize in Hospitality Management, focusing on managing a facility and the customer experience, and Wellbeing from Arctic Nature, focusing on outdoor activities and utilizing the regions natural surroundings in your studies.

The theoretical knowledge gained from studies will be applied into practice in projects and events together with the local companies and organizations. Specialization studies, international exchanges and free-choice studies provide you with the opportunity to focus your studies according to your own interests. During this English-taught degree, you will study in an international group and working in a multicultural environment is part of the learning process. Foreign students will study the Finnish language as part of their studies.
