Welcome to Study at KAMK!

You can accept the offer of admission with the link in the email that you have received from Studyinfo. You must accept the study place within 21 days of receiving your admission notice. When you accept the offer of admission electronically, you will receive an automatic email from Studyinfo notifying you that the offer has been accepted successfully.

If you are liable to pay the tuition fee, the deadline for the payment is the same as accepting your study place. The payment is completed through Flywire.

After KAMK receives the tuition fee payment, KAMK will remove the conditionality from the student admission and make the attending registration for the academic year 2027-2028. KAMK does not send separate payment confirmations. The official payment receipt can be downloaded from Flywire.

Please read this website carefully and make sure to take all the necessary steps to secure your study place.

Please note:

• The Early Bird scholarship is not available for applicants applying through rolling admission.
• Make sure to confirm your study place by the given deadline. Otherwise, you will lose the offered study place. Confirmation of the study place is binding and cannot be altered or cancelled.

One study place per term provision
Student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. This rule applies to all higher education.

Applicant can accept only one study place in a degree programme starting in autumn 2027 in a university of applied sciences or a university in Finland. Read more on the One Study Place per Term provision in Studyinfo.fi.

If you are admitted to a programme and accept the study place, your existing study rights at the same or lower level will be terminated. When you accept the study place, you will be shown which study rights will end as a result.The decision to accept the study place – and thereby terminate your previous study rights – is binding and cannot be changed afterwards.

The start of the studies
Please check the programme-specific information regarding the start of your studies on this website under Orientation Days and Start of Studies. If you have already been offered a study place, please review your acceptance letter for information related to your degree programme.

Students admitted through Rolling Admission will start their studies on August 2027 with orientation on campus. All new students are expected to be present on the first day of study to guarantee a smooth start for studies. We do not accept late arrivals.

If you are unable to begin your studies on campus as scheduled due to delays in obtaining your residence permit, you will, depending on your degree programme, complete independent studies during the autumn semester. If no independent studies are available for the autumn semester, the start of your studies will be postponed until the beginning of the next semester. Please check this website under Orientation Days and Start of Studies for study programme-specific instructions. If you have already accepted your study place, please also review any programme-specific information in your acceptance letter.

You must inform KAMK Study Services (studyservices@kamk.fi) of your situation as soon as possible, and no later than 15 August (autumn semester) or 15 December (spring semester).

Please note that waiting for a family member’s residence permit decision is not a valid reason to register as non-attending during the first year of study. If you decide to wait for your family member’s residence permit, you will be registered as attending, and your tuition fee will be used for the semester(s).

• If you have a Finnish ID number and online banking credentials, mobile certificate, or an electronic ID card you can confirm the study place by logging in the My Studyinfo service.
• If you don’t have a Finnish ID number nor online banking credentials, mobile certificate, or an electronic ID card, please read the instructions on the My Studyinfo email notification you received and confirm your study place through the link your receive from the email.

The timetables of the joint selection for spring 2026:

• Student selection results published by 27 May 2026
• Deadline for accepting a study place by 9 July 2026 3:00 pm Finnish time
• Admissions from waiting lists end by 4 August 2026 3:00 pm Finnish time

Those who have received a student selection decision must receive their study place in My Studyinfo service and register as present or absent by 9 July 2026 at 3.00 pm Finnish time.

Those who have been accepted from a reserve place have 7 days to confirm their place and register for the academic year as present or absent.

If you have not confirmed a study place and registered by the deadline, you will lose your reserved study place. Non-EU/EEA students accept the terms of the Decision and Student Agreement at the same time as they confirm their study place.

Attendance Registration

It is the student’s responsibility to register as attending for each academic year.

Non EU-/EEA-citizens: KAMK Study Services will complete your attendance registration in StudyInfo on your behalf after receiving the tuition fee.by following the instructions provided in the acceptance letter sent to you via email. The tuition fee must be paid in full, it cannot be paid in installments. (Processing may take a few days.)

EU-citizens and Finnish students: Register your attendance for the first year through the StudyInfo Oili service.

Continuing students: register through the Pakki Student Desktop.

Note: If you wish to register as absent for your first academic year, you may do so only for statutory (legally accepted) reasons.

Please attach copies of certificates/photos to your application by 9 July 2026 at 3.00 pm Finnish time or by the given deadline, if you have not already attached them to your application. You can submit the documents to your application via StudyInfo or via the link in the confirmation message you receive when you submit your application.

Applicants’ eligibility is verified as part of the application process either before the selection or after admissions, as the university of applied sciences decides. The study place is conditional until the university of applied sciences has verified the eligibility of the applicant.

In the first academic year, a student can only register as absent for a statutory reason (AmkL 932/2014, 29§) if student

• is performing service under the Conscription Act (1438/2007), the Civilian Service Act (1446/2007) or the Voluntary Military Service for Women Act (194/1995)
• needs time off from studies to care for own child in connection with the birth or adoption of the child, or
• is unable to start the studies because of own illness or disability.

The first-year absence must be documented with the following documents:

• recruitment order, service certificate or valid conscript card
• KELA certificate of maternity, paternity or parental leave or, if no such certificate exists, a medical certificate of pregnancy
• sickness allowance decision or, in the absence of such a decision, medical certificate.

The medical certificate must clearly state, in Finnish or English, the illness or injury in question and confirm that the illness or injury prevents the start of the studies. Contents of the medical certificate:

• Title of the medical certificate
• Purpose of the certificate
• Name of the person requesting the certificate: student’s full name and nationality, personal identity number/passport number
• Degree program / field of study
• Findings and conclusions of the study: the illness or injury in question and confirmation that the illness or injury prevents the student from starting their studies
• Duration of the sick leave
• Name & authorisation/certificate of the doctor, date and signature or electronic certification

The document justifying the absence must be submitted by 9 July 2026 at 3.00 pm (UTC +3) by encrypted e-mail to Study Services: studyservices@kamk.fi 

If the document is not submitted by the deadline, student will be registered as present, which will consume the duration of the study right.

Independent Studies

Some degree programmes require students to complete their first-semester studies independently online if they are unable to arrive on campus for orientation and the start of their studies due to delays in their residence permit decision process. In such cases, completion of independent studies is mandatory, and the studies count towards both the student’s attendance semester and tuition fee liability. If programme requires the completion of independent studies, this requirement is stated in Acceptance Letter and under New Students webpage.

If a Student’s residence permit is granted before the commencement of the first-semester studies, the Student is required to attend classes on campus.

The independent study arrangement is strictly limited to Students whose residence permit application is pending

The tutoring teachers will send instructions for independent studies to the students @kamk.fi e-mail address after the semester has started.

Non-attending registration

During the first academic year, a student may register as non-attending only on statutory grounds. A pending or missing residence permit does not constitute such a reason.

Consequently, if a student is unable to start their studies because they have not obtained a residence permit by the orientation days (and the degree programme does not require the student to complete the first-semester studies independently), their study right will be deactivated. In such cases, studies cannot be pursued without a valid study right, and commencing studies is generally possible at the orientation period of the following semester.

If a student is granted a residence permit at a later stage, they must notify Study Services immediately or before the next semester starts. If the Student has not obtained a residence permit by the end of the first semester and therefore can’t register as attending for the next semester, students study right will be deactivated and the tuition fee may be transferred to the next semester in which the Student is registered as attending.

A student may wait for a residence permit for a maximum of two semesters. If the residence permit has not been granted within that period, the student’s study right will be terminated. Waiting for a family member’s residence permit is not considered a valid reason to register as non-attending. Students who choose to delay their arrival on campus for this reason will be registered as attending, and the tuition fee will be applied to the relevant semester(s).

Students are required to keep Study Services informed of their residence permit status. If a student does not receive their residence permit in time, they must notify Study Services (studyservices@kamk.fi) by the semester registration deadlines (15 December / 15 August).

Getting a User ID for KAMK

Students receive a user ID (user account) for KAMK before starting their studies. To receive a user ID, you must verify your identity, have accepted a study place, and be registered as an attending student. Your user ID will be activated 30 days before your studies begin. You can check the starting date and location of your study right in the Orientation Days and Start of Studies section on this page.

Identification with the Candour app

If you cannot use strong Suomi.fi e-Identification (e.g., international students), identification will be done with the Candour app using your passport or ID card. After successful identification, your user ID details and instructions for registering the user ID will be sent to your personal email address.

If you have not received an invitation to Candour identification before the start of the orientation and cannot use strong Suomi.fi e-Identification, please contact Study Services for assistance: studyservices@kamk.fi.

Registering Your User ID with Suomi.fi e-Identification

If you can use strong Suomi.fi e-Identification, you can register your user ID in the KAMK User ID Service at id.kamk.fi.

• Click the Authenticate button.
• Authenticate using strong Suomi.fi e-Identification. You can use online banking codes, a mobile certificate, the hightrust.id app, or a smart card.
• Carefully review and accept the User rules for IT services. After that, you can click the Register User ID button.
• If you have a KAMK employee user ID, select the student user ID whose password you want to set from the view.
• Finally, set a password that meets the following requirements:
  • Must be at least 8 characters long
  • Must include at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one number
  • Must not be too simple, contain your user ID or name information

• Must be changed at least every 500 days

After registering your user ID is ready to use for accessing, for example

• KAMK Intranet
• Reppu Learning Platform
• M365 services
• Pakki – Student Desktop

Multi-Factor Authentication

KAMK services use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to enhance security. MFA is required for certain situations, such as logging into all M365 services. Set up MFA as soon as possible after registering your user ID. Without it, your user ID will only remain active for two weeks.

MFA is implemented using the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app, which makes it easy to manage sign-ins to services. The app can be found in mobile app stores under the name Microsoft Authenticator.

Setting Up MFA with Microsoft Authenticator app

For the setup, it is recommended to use a computer browser alongside your phone.

1. Open a browser and go to aka.ms/ssprsetup
2. Enter your KAMK email address and password.
3. In the ‘Let’s keep your account secure‘ window that opens after signing in, click the Next button.
4. You will be prompted to install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone. Install the app from the app store (Google Play or App Store).
5. Once you have installed the Microsoft Authenticator app, click the Next button in your browser.
6. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
7. In the browser window ‘Set up your account in app’, click the Next button.
8. A QR code will appear. Scan it using the Microsoft Authenticator app’s QR code scanner, or enter the code manually into the app.
9. Once the QR code is scanned or entered, click the Next button in the browser.
10. You will receive a notification to approve a sign-in request in the Microsoft Authenticator app. Approve the request by entering the numbers shown in your browser.
11. You will receive a notification confirming that Microsoft Authenticator has been added and is set as the default sign-in method. Click the Done button.

Once you have received your KAMK user ID, please fill in the Notification of Arrival form. You will receive a link to the form in a separate email closer to the start of your studies.

We use this form to collect information about the status of your residence permit and more detailed information about your arrival in Finland. Please keep us informed on your residence permit process and your arrival plans.

In case you are arriving with family and children, we also need the information well in advance. For planning the daycare and schooling for your accompanying children, please be in touch also with international.info@kajaani.fi.

BYOD – Bring your own device
Students of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences are required to use their own computer/laptop. Having your own device enables you to study regardless of time and place, using your own familiar and most suitable device. Please check that the charger cable for your laptop is compatible with power outlets in Finland!

Device recommendations
Different degree programmes have different hardware recommendations for student computers. For more detailed guidance on the right computer for your studies, please see the recommendation for a student computer.

You can also ask your teacher at your degree program for help in choosing a computer.

Eduroam Network Connection on Campus
You can connect your laptop to the Eduroam network while you are on campus. Eduroam is a nationwide roaming system shared by universities and research institutes. Read more on Orientation Kit in Reppu.

To connect to the Eduroam network, you will need your KAMK user ID and a few steps on your personal device:

1. Select the Eduroam network from the list of available networks and click Connect
2. You will then be asked for your username and password:The username is not your email address but the format yourID@kamk.fi (e.g. JohnSmi@kamk.fi).
3. Your password will be the password for KAMK user account. Please see the Eduroam instructions in the KAMK intranet (requires login.)

Eduroam Instructions in KAMK intra Recommendations for a Student Computer

Once you have received your KAMK user ID, you will be able to complete the Orientation Kit for all new KAMK students in KAMK’s Reppu Moodle eLearning Platform.

The purpose of the Orientation Kit is to provide information to support your studies and at the same time to introduce you to the KAMK e-learning platform Reppu. You must complete the Orientation Kit before starting your studies. In the Orientation Kit you will receive instructions on how to use the Pakki Student Desktop, how to enroll for courses, how to plan your studies and accredit your earlier studies, how to use the KAMK information systems and tips on the various services for students.

Some of the topics in the Orientation Kit will also be explained during the Orientation week, when you will have the opportunity to ask more questions.

Logging in to the Orientation Kit

1. Go to reppu.kamk.fi
2. Log in with your KAMK username, using the Haka login method: short name + password.
3. Enter the following code in the Easy enrolment field on your desktop and click on the Join Course button:
   • All new students, Orientation Kit 2026-2027: pn93pq
   • New exchange students, Orientation Kit for Exchange Students: bjsihg

4. You will then be able to complete the Orientation Kit at your own time and in the order of your choice. You can see your progress in the percentages on the Complete -bar.
   • The Orientation Kit is available throughout the first academic year, so you can always come back to check things if you need to.

Orientation Kit

If you are studying for a university degree and are registered as a student, you are entitled to use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS, and in Finnish YTHS).

Students at universities of applied sciences must pay a health care fee to Kela. You will not be sent an invoice for the fee, but you must remember to pay the fee unprompted each semester. If you have Finnish online banking credentials, you can pay the fee in OmaKela e-service (in Finnish/Swedish) or pay the fee as a bank transfer. Once you have paid the health care fee to Kela, the FSHS services are free of charge.

NOTE! You must always pay the university student health fee if you are eligible for FSHS services. You cannot be exempted from the fee if, for example, you use occupational health services instead of FSHS services, or if you do not receive student financial aid.

The amount of the health care fee for university students is reviewed annually, and you can pay both the spring and autumn semesters in the spring, and only the autumn semester in the autumn. Check the payment due dates in OmaKela e-service.

You do not have to pay the healthcare fee if you have social security coverage from another EU/EEA country, Switzerland, Great Britain or Northern Ireland. In that case, send a picture of your valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) to Kela.

You can prove your studies with an official study certificate after you have accepted a place in My Studyinfo and enrolled as an attending student.

You can download the official, electronically signed study certificate yourself from the Pakki student desktop after you have received your KAMK ID’s (approx. 2 weeks before starting studies).

Downloading the certificate from the Pakki student desktop:

1. Go to PAKKI and log in with your KAMK ID: short ID + password.
2. Click on Documents (download icon) in the top bar.
3. Select the document you want to order from the New order section: study certificate
4. Once you have ordered a document, download it from the Documents -tab next to it
   • The certificate is electronically signed and is valid for electronic transmission to the authorities.
   • If you need a student certificate before you can access your credentials, please contact Study Services: studyservices@kamk.fi

Once your studies have started, you can prove that you are a student with an official student card, which you can order by joining to the Student Union KAMO or by activating your student ID in the Tuudo mobile application.

1. In the Group Search field, enter your group code and then click on the Search button (you can find your group code below, in the Starting dates and group codes section).
2. Then use the +Add button to add the desired group to your calendar.
3. Once you have added a group, click on the Hide search results -button and scroll down the calendar to the desired date to see the teaching bookings for the selected group.
   • You can also find the timetables on Tuudo app and on Pakki Student’s Desktop after you have received your KAMK ID and logged in.

Remember to enroll for all your courses on Pakki, so they will also appear in your timetable!

Do you have previous higher education studies?

Accreditation means that a student’s previously acquired competence, either at a higher education institution or through other means such as work experience, can be accredited towards the degree being studied. Competence can be acquired either before the current studies or during the current studies.

Previous studies completed at another higher education institution can be accredited either to replace equivalent studies included in the degree or to be included as part of the degree as they are.

You can find detailed instructions for accreditation in the Orientation Kit and on KAMK intra (login required).

Orientation Kit Accreditation in KAMK Intra

Upon your arrival in Finland, you must complete your registration with the DVV, and upon arriving on campus, you must register with the Study Services.

1. DVV Registration

If you have recently moved to Finland and are starting your studies, you must register with the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV). Registration is mandatory and free of charge. When completing the registration, you will receive:

• Finnish personal identity code – needed for receiving study transcripts, dealing with Finnish authorities, and other services.
• Registered address in Finland – temporary or permanent, required for opening a bank account or getting a mobile phone contract.

How to register
We recommend registering as soon as possible after you have arrived in Finland.

Please note: There is no DVV office in Kajaani, and registration cannot be done there. You may complete the registration in Helsinki upon your arrival in Finland. The nearest DVV offices to Kajaani are in Kuopio and Oulu, both about a two-hour trip from Kajaani.

2. Registration on Campus

In order to know that you are in Finland and have started your studies, we require you to register. Registration is done during the orientation days by showing your official ID and residence permit (if required) to the Study Services representative.
We may also check your original school certificates when you register, so be prepared to show them if necessary.

We have scheduled for all International Students time for registration on Orientation Week, at Study Services Service Desk starting from 18 August 2026.

Please note: KAMK will inform the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) about students who, after receiving their residence permit, do not arrive at KAMK and register with Study Services to begin their studies.

Register with the DVV

1. Accept your study place in Studyinfo and complete your enrolment for attendance by the given deadline.
2. Pay the tuition fee if you are liable for it.
3. Activate your KAMK user account. If you transfer to another degree programme within KAMK, your user account will remain the same.
4. Complete the New Student Orientation Kit in Reppu before your studies begin, if you have not completed it before.
5. Contact your degree programme’s Study Counsellor and arrange a meeting. Bring with you a transcript of records from your previous University or University of Applied Sciences. It is also recommended to have the course descriptions available.
   • You can discuss the possible Accreditations with your Study Counsellor.

Please note the following:

• If you have applied for an internal transfer within KAMK and your degree title changes, note that you must enroll for the spring study modules under your new study right.
• If you have already used your non-attendance periods earlier during your studies, you are not entitled to additional non-attendance periods.
• When you, as a transfer student, accept your new study right, you will lose the study right on which the transfer was based (Act 325/2015).

   • Please note that the study counsellors will be on summer break from 15 June to 9 August 2026 and will respond to your inquiry after returning to work.
