The studies will start with a joint orientation days. You are expected to attend the orientation and the courses from the beginning, as we will share a lot of practical information about studying during the orientation days, and your presence will help you to get to know each other, the group and the campus.
For part-time Master’s degree students the studies start with compulsory orientation online.
All new students are required to attend the orientation days. Full-time degree students starting in the spring semester 2026 must be on campus for the orientation day on 12 January. Please note that this means it will not be possible to arrive on campus after 12 January.
If you are unable to travel to Kajaani by 12 January due to residence permit delays, you may register as absent. Students who have not received their residence permit in time and cannot arrive in Kajaani are expected to begin their studies at the start of the next semester.

All new students have to be present on the first day of study.
Tuudo is your personal study assistant. You can find your own timetable, library card, intranet news, restaurant menus, student ID for meal subsidies, travel benefits, and help navigating around campus.
Before packing your bags and heading to Finland, it is a good idea to get familiar with the country you are going to. It is easier to leave for a foreign country if you know what to expect. Find information on Finland and its culture, habits, the weather etc.
Starting your studies in a new country, surrounded by unfamiliar customs, culture and language, away from friends and your everyday environment might be challenge at the beginning but we here at KAMK offer full support and guidance to all students on every stage of their studies.
