Kajaani University of Applied Sciences in brief

  • small university of applied sciences, but a big UAS unit
  • established in 1992
  • amongst the first UAS to be granted permanent status in 1996
  • 5 schools: Business, Tourism, Sports, Health and Social Services, Engineering, Information Systems
  • 27 programmes total in Finnish, which of 17 lead to Bachelor’s degrees and 10 to Master’s degrees
  • 11 programmes total in English, which of 7 lead to Bachelor’s degrees and 4 to a Master’s degrees
  • approximately 3 500 students (in 2024)
  • a staff of 300, of which approximately 120 is teaching staff
  • Quality label awarded by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC) in 2021
