Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Technology, Data Center

Study in one of Europe’s fastest-growing data center regions in a unique learning environment.

Application period: 7.1.-21.1.2027
Mode of Study: Full-time Studies
Place of Study: Kajaani

KAMK’s degree programme in data center studies, originally established as a Finnish degree programme in 2010, covers core server and workstation technologies, virtualization, cybersecurity, modern enterprise networking, and the systems administration skills that modern organizations require. Beyond day-to-day maintenance, you’ll develop the ability to plan, design, and build IT solutions as part of broader organizational development — preparing you to become an IT professional who can contribute strategically, not just technically.

You can also choose elective courses in data center electrical systems, cooling technologies, automation, facility management, maintenance and physical security, all critical components of modern data center operations. As demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow, skilled data center professionals are increasingly sought after by employers.

At KAMK, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a dedicated student-only data center with full administrator-level access, a learning environment that is exceptionally rare among European higher education institutions. You’ll work with real hardware, real infrastructure, and real-world projects that mirror the environments used by leading organizations. You can specialize in data center technologies, networking, cloud services, or game server solutions, and graduate with practical skills that employers value.

Kajaani is home to major data center investments and cutting-edge infrastructure, giving students direct access to an ecosystem where the future of digital infrastructure is built. CSC, Finland’s national research and education IT center, operates one of the largest supercomputers in the EU in Kajaani. London-based trading firm XTX Markets is building a major data center in Kajaani. Iceland-based Borealis Data Center has also established operations in the region. And more companies are on their way. The chilly northern climate, reliable power and network infrastructure, and the strong availability of skilled professionals have attracted major industry players to the region. As a KAMK student, you’ll get to learn right at the heart of this development in Finland’s pure northern nature.
