Objective of the Programme
The objective of the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism is to provide the students with the necesssary skills to manage quality tourist experiences and to develop and manage tourism businesses with entrepreneurial attitude. The focus of the degree lies in nature activities, cultural aspects and recreational tourism.
The theme throughout the studies is innovative creativity, responsible and sustainable tourism enterprise development, internationality and personal development. The degree involves intensive cooperation on a variety of work based learning assignments conducted with actors and businesses engaged in tourism.
At the start of the degree the students will focus on gaining basic skills and knowledge after which they will apply their acquired learning. You will study to acquire comprehensive customer-oriented product development and marketing competence as well as becoming familiar with different cultures for the purposes of international tourism. The final stages of the studies emphasize using your acquired competence in practice and in different types of smart solutions.
The students will specialize in adventure tourism or wellbeing tourism. In the adventure tourism module students will learn to create and commercialize experiences in the form of summer and winter nature and sports tourism activities. The wellbeing tourism module enables students to develope experiental concepts of wellbeing and wellness products as a part of tourism.
Through the use of various tutorial approaches, lessons are designed to ensure that students can fully exercise their creative potential and that critical learning is facilitated. Interactive learning, team-based course work and small group sessions form an important element of the learning process. During the studies, the students will carry out different kinds of projects in close collaboration with local companies and organisations. Several tourism destinations will also be explored during the studies. In this degree, students spend a lot of time outside the classroom, outdoors and in natural surroundings.
