KAMK participates in the national Opin.fi service – Finnish higher education institutions’ open studies now in a single service

The aim of the national Digivision 2030 project is to support the lifelong learning and competence of Finns. The backdrop to the project is unique cooperation between 37 Finnish higher education institutions, as a result of which the completely new Opin.fi service was launched in April. In this free service, users can browse open higher education studies in a single service, which makes comparing and finding studies easy and interesting. KAMK offer learners of all ages high-quality open studies on Opin.fi, flexibly and whenever and wherever the learners are.

Opin.fi offers thousands of opportunities for learning

As careers are extended, tasks diversify and the demands of working life increase, keeping up may be a challenge without updating your competence. Opin.fi, which was launched in April, offers a flexible way of responding to transforming working life needs. It was created for everyone who would like to find out about opportunities for self-development, whatever their age and life situation.

“The purpose of Opin.fi, which was created as a result of unique cooperation between the Finnish higher education institutions, is to serve lifelong learning. For the first time in history, the open studies of 37 Finnish higher education institutions will be compiled in a single service, where they are easy to browse. The higher education institutions aim to lower the threshold for seeking new learning for people of all ages. The strength of Opin.fi definitely lies in the state-of-the-art pedagogical competence and evidence-based knowledge of Finnish higher education institutions, and the service is well worth a visit,” says Hanna Nordlund, manager of the Digivision 2030 project.

Opin.fi is targeted particularly at working age people, and no previous higher education studies are required to use it.  The service is open for those looking for a new interest or profession, changing careers or updating their current competence while working.

Opin.fi offers studies in Finnish, Swedish and English, and both online studies and contact teaching are available. The fields that can be studied range from sustainable development to new technologies and from wellbeing and health to the security sector.

The service offers studies not only in different fields but also in different forms. In addition to actual courses, the selection will include other ways of developing competence, such as podcasts and webinars.

37 higher education institutions – a single national service

Opin.fi was developed together with higher education institutions and future users. Learners and higher education institutions were engaged in long-term development efforts to ensure that the service would meet user needs as well as possible.

While Opin.fi has now been launched, its development continues and, for example, the range of studies is constantly expanding and diversifying. The majority of Finnish higher education institutions were in as the service was launched in April, with courses offered by 29 universities and universities of applied sciences in total. The remaining eight Finnish higher education institutions will include their studies in the service later this year.

You can already build unique learning modules for yourself in the service now, and in the future, Opin.fi will offer tailored recommendations based on your interests.

Opin.fi is a national service developed by the Digivision 2030 project together with the Finnish higher education institutions. Launched in April, Opin.fi is the first service developed in the project. Opin.fi is operated by HigherEd Hub Finland Oy, a service company owned by the Finnish higher education institutions. The HigherEd Hub Finland Oy and Digivision 2030 work together to support the Finnish higher education institutions in providing advanced digital services securely.
