Software Development in the Age of AI is a cutting-edge, part-time engineering program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to excel in the rapidly evolving field of software development. This program merges traditional software engineering principles with modern AI techniques, providing a comprehensive education that prepares students to design, develop, and deploy intelligent software systems.

The degree emphasizes applying the learned theories into practice, providing a strong foundation in project work, business, languages, and communication, as well as general skills in different areas of software development through basic studies. At the start of the degree, you will focus on gaining a solid understanding of the ICT industry and its basic concepts, after which you will apply the acquired theory into practice. You will learn the essential skills of software engineering, building a strong foundation in core concepts such as object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, and software architecture. Furthermore, you will delve into data analytics, machine learning, and AI, learning how to design, develop, and deploy intelligent software systems. Hands-on projects, practical training, and thesis work are excellent ways of learning, interacting, and building networks with the working life.

During this English-taught degree, you will study in an international group, and working in a multicultural environment is part of the learning process. Foreign students will study the Finnish language as part of their studies. Finnish students will study certain language and communication studies in Finnish and Swedish.

Code the future of AI

You will emerge as a proficient software engineer with a specialized focus on AI technologies. You will be capable of building innovative, intelligent software systems that are responsive to the needs of a tech-driven world. You will be able to work in public and private sectors in various software engineering tasks, such as software designers, and developers, or to start up your own business. There are also emerging opportunities: the integration of AI across industries is creating new and evolving roles.

Blended learning

The program is designed as a blended learning format, combining on-campus and online components, allowing students to study while working. The face-to-face teaching (on-campus, but also provided online) takes place primarily twice a week between 12-16.30 P.M. during the work week (Mon-Fri). The on-campus teaching is optional, offered for those students who seek live discussions with the teachers and peer students, but all the studies can also be participated online.
