Game Development Summer Studies

Summer Studies in Game Development at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences will take place from May 27th to August 15th, 2025, in Kajaani.

We offer the following courses:

  • Game Development Summer Studies 1 (5 credits)
  • Game Development Summer Studies 2 (5 credits)
  • Game Development Summer Studies 3 (5 credits)
  • Game Development Summer Studies 4 (10 credits)

Students must complete either 5, 10, or 15 credit (ECTS) and they can choose the number of credits they wish to study from four different tracks. The tracks are as follows:

  • Published Game
  • Game Development Competition
  • Rapid Development

Brief descriptions of the tracks

  • In the Published Game and Game Development Competition tracks, students develop and either publish their game or participate in a development competition of their choice.
  • In the Rapid Development track, students work on quick demos and prototypes of games, shaders, engines, or similar projects.

During the course you will work in game development teams while learning the objectives and methods of developing commercial games. You may even have the opportunity to publish your
own game or learn how to prototype games fast!

On our campus, students have access to game development labs and computers, among other cutting-edge technology. Previous knowledge of basic programming, graphics, design, or production is required alongside the ability to work independently.

Pricing

Summer studies are free of charge for students from KAMK’s partner universities. As the pre-orientation takes place online, please ask your home university for Erasmus+ funding possibility. The nominations have to be through your school’s International Office by April 25th, 2025.

For other students, the prices are €500 (5 ECTS), €1000 (10 ECTS) and €1500 (15 ECTS). The minimum duration of the exchange is two weeks. If you wish to participate, please send the following information to international.office(at)kamk.fi by April 25, 2025:

KAMK International Services can book accommodation for you from Kajaanin Pietari. The minimum rental period for these apartments is 1 month.
