DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DURING THE THESIS PROCESS
Commissioning party (business, company, organisation, municipality), students and the teachers of the UAS

The thesis is the student’s own work even when it is completed in a group. Students are supported during the process by a peer partner (*), and supervisors appointed from the work place and the university of applied sciences. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DURING THE THESIS PROCESS

wants to develop work using the thesis and commissions or/and contacts the thesis author, UAS or thesis bank understands the significance of his/her own thesis in terms of developing his/her own learning and professional field and possesses a sufficient amount of skills and knowledge to start the thesis (checks what is required)   finds out which schemes and projects can be combined with a thesis INTRODUCTION AND IDEAS
checks that the commission is clear, necessary and its validity gets to know the commissioning party’s work place/project etc.

establishes the necessity and significance of the thesis topic from a work-oriented point of view
is responsible for (if necessary in co-operation with the teacher responsible for specialised studies) drawing the boundaries of the thesis subject and ensuring that it is suitable for the student the co-ordinator should participate in scheme monitoring and management meetings to help/establish common goals
appoints a contact person (supervisor) from the company/organisation finds and defines the topic, that meets the thesis criteria (and the requirements of working life) using supervision and suitable material is committed to supervising the thesis is responsible for keeping students and others informed of and familiar with thesis matters inside the UAS and ensures that proposed projects/R & D schemes are suitable for thesis work
participates in defining the objectives of the thesis in co-operation with the student and the teacher supervisor actively committed to learning about and working towards and for the thesis topic Introduces students to the thesis process as a whole

USES 
discusses whether the aims of the thesis have been achieved from the point of view of the commissioning party using the finished thesis as the basis for discussion. How did the thesis and related processes develop the commissioning party? What is the significance of the thesis and related co-operation to the company/organisation? How will development continue from now on? completes self-assessment and peer partner assessment in writing discusses the awarded grade with the student and a representative of the company/organisation and gives reasons for the grade awarded is responsible for filing finished thesis documents
markets the thesis markets and actively makes use of the thesis during the whole process (other courses, portfolio, CV etc.) discusses the achieved objectives of the thesis. How did the thesis and supervision support the student’s professional know-how of work issues and how did they develop his/her expertise? What is the significance of the thesis and related co-operation from the point of view of the UAS and the world of work? How will such co-operation continue? is responsible for the arrangement of practical tasks concerning the thesis together with the study office
sends documents to funding body (if required) or to other parties (specifically concerns theses completed as part of projects) Is responsible for own thesis  recommends (if necessary) that the thesis be published in the UAS publication series, professional magazines/journals or that it should enter the Thesis competition
discusses the achieved objectives of the thesis. How did the thesis and supervision deepen his/her professional know-how of work issues and how did they develop his/her expertise? What is the significance of the thesis and related co-operation? How will development continue? compiles and assesses the maturity test questions in co-operation with a language teacher and organises the maturity test
